Duran Insulted by Comparisons with Chavez

Duran assures that it would be disrespectful to compare him with Julio Cesar Chavez
Emphasizes that he won six world titles

The Panamanian Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran considered it a disrespect to be compared with Julio Cesar Chavez. He maintained that there aren't any points of comparison between him and Chavez when discussing who is the best Latino fighter of all times. "Chavez doesn't amount up to my heels, more less to my ankles," added Duran, who had been in the country since Friday night to participate today in the awarding of the Premios "Latinos."

"Manos de Piedra" reminded us that he was six times world champion and that he competed in five (different) weight classes in an era in which the boxers in those weight classes were "very brave" or excellent fighters.

"Chavez fought with utter corpses and if he had gotten into the ring with me I would have pounded him," he added.

Recently a debate began among well-known international newswriters over who is the best Latino boxer of all times, between Duran and Chavez.

"It's a disrespect to make this comparison, because there aren't any points of comparison," insisted Duran.

Both Duran and Chavez have realized over 100 professional fights. The first was six times champion in five weight divisions, and the latter won five world championship belts in three divisions.
